A green agriculture model in Chiem Hoa

TQO - Thanks to a closed-loop husbandry model, Hoang Thi Thiet, Secretary of the Youth Union of Na Bay Hamlet, Ngoc Hoi Commune, Chiem Hoa District, has been fulfilling her dream of a green agriculture model.

Years after leaving her homeland to earn her living, Thiet returned to her hometown to start her own career. Thanks to her hard work and laboriousness, along with the support of other people, she was determined to be signed up for participation in a  buffalo fattening project run by the People's Committee of Ngoc Hoi Commune.

The fattened buffalo husbandry model brings high efficiency, with each farming period lasting from 2.5 to 3 months. The buffalo feed is mainly fresh grass, fermented sugarcane and beer residue. On average, Thiet collects VND1 million in profit on each buffalo per month.\

In addition, she has also expanded her chicken farming model to cover a total area of 250 m2, raising over 2,500 chickens. Thiet set up coordination with Hong Kim Joint Stock Company to provide her with chicken breeds and feed, while also covering product consumption.

Targeting green agriculture, Thiet has driven her production towards a closed-loop model: raising fattened buffalos to get buffalo dung for earthworm farming, then using earthworms to feed the chickens and using earthworm dung to fertilise grass to produce feed for the buffalos.

Following her success, many Youth Union members in the district has visited Thiet's farming model for reference.
